Year 12 Agriculture

On Thursday 7 March, the bee adventures of our Year 12 Agriculture students continued. Barbara Elkins and Barry Eslick from the Central Coast Amateur Beekeepers Association visited the school to help with extracting honey from our hive. The students once again suited up to work with the bees as they had to remove the honey-packed frames from the hive. Once that was done, Barbara and Barry showed the class how to uncap the honeycomb and extract the honey via centrifugal force in an electric extractor. We were delighted to taste fresh honeycomb straight from the hive; it was delicious! Year 12 filled jars with the honey they extracted and will be working over the next few weeks to design logos and make marketing decisions as part of their course work.

The students and Miss Greenwood would like to thank Barbara and Barry for their time, knowledge and enthusiasm. The school has been buzzing with excitement!
