Last week, our Stage 4 Technology Mandatory timber students participated in a full-day beeswax incursion. This hands-on experience gave students valuable insight into the entire process of transforming raw materials from farm to workshop.
Throughout the day, students learned how beeswax is harvested, how it’s used to create beeswax polish, and finally, how to apply that polish to their own handmade mantle clocks. This enriching activity complemented their semester-long timber project and gave them a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in both the polish and their clocks.
It was a rewarding experience that highlighted the connection between natural materials and the finished product—bringing their hard work to life with a beautiful, hand-finished shine.
