On Friday 22 March our Open Boys Soccer/Football team played at Pennant Hills park on the artificial grass oval against Gorokan High. The game had been rescheduled from the previous Monday as it was a wash out. The game started fairly evenly and then against the run of play Gorokan scored a nice header from a corner to make it 1-0. Following this we again dominated the play and had numerous shots at their goal, narrowly missing every time. They scored again from a shot taken with lots of “traffic” in front of our keeper, making it almost impossible to see the ball
In the second half we dominated the game more and more as time went on, peppering their goal with shots. We finally scored with a nice goal by Mitchel Wood just after half time, making it 2-1. We scored the equaliser that was then declared to be off- side. Gorokan again against the run of play got another goal, making the final score 3-1. We had approximately 65% possession, hit the crossbar 6 times, were in their half for 65% of the time and had 6 shots at goal for each 1 of theirs, but we just couldn’t convert (partly due to their keepers effort). The boys all played exceptionally well and demonstrated good sportsmanship- as did our opponents.
