HKHS students were honoured to spend time at the East Gosford Art Gallery with artist Blak Douglas, a finalist in the Archibald Exhibition this year. The students spent time with Blak Douglas learning about his painting style and messages within his artworks and installations. They later spent time learning about the Archibald 2019 entries and afterwards sketching in the gardens.

This land we meet on today holds the stories and memories of all Aboriginal people. The land we are upon is Millennia old. Below us and above us the earth and the sky has always taken care of us. I pay my respects to the elders past and present and acknowledge how much they have cared for this nation since the beginning of time.
