Sophie competes at Northern NSW Championships
The weather on the race day was very testing with snowfall turning to heavy rain making the courses rutted and difficult in addition to the very cold and wet conditions the competitors had to endure for hours.
Sophie Hoyle of Year 7, won a bronze medal in the Snowboard Giant Slalom event to add to her collection. Sophie also collected a well earned 5th place in the Boarder Cross event. These placings have qualified Sophie to represent Henry Kendall High School in both events in the NSW State Championships next month.
Over the holidays Sophie did a training day with Australian Gold & Silver Medal Olympian Torah Bright and other professional snowboarders, which was a wonderful opportunity to learn from the best.
