Congratulations Bodene Gilham

Bodene Gilham in Year 9 has won the award for the category 'Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing' in the Youth Frontiers Program.

The awards took place at Sydney Parliament House on Wednesday 17 February. Youth Frontiers is a NSW Government youth mentoring program. The program gives mentees the opportunity to build life skills and self confidence by working collaboratively with their mentors to undertake a community project that makes a positive difference in their local community.

The project culminates in showcases across the state where mentees will present the results of their community projects.

The young people with the most innovative and           effective community project will be recognised with an   award.

Bodene's project is a YouTube video that gives real, practical and personal advice to teenagers who are experiencing bullying. She recognised that their is a stigma attached to seeking help in a school setting and created a video to help with day-to-day struggles, highlighting how individuals can help others who may be feeling down, and inform others about avenues for seeking help.

Bodene worked with her mentor Jane Goodwin, a 26 year old PhD candidate at the University of Newcastle. She is researching positive psychological outcomes such as resilience.
