Dear Henry Kendall community,
It was fantastic to welcome Year 7 back to school today, as well as some of our Year 12 classes who are spending intensive time in the next two weeks working on their HSC major works and performances. After this long period of isolation it was great for our students to be able to catch up with each other. The staff rostered on for today also enjoyed the chance for a bit of social interaction.
We are in for a cold week - especially in the mornings - so students are reminded to bring their school jumper with them.
Our socially distant classrooms worked well, with all students having access to a laptop for the day and learning was self-paced online. I’d like to remind students that, where possible, please bring headphones to school on your rostered day. Ten different zoom lessons going at once creates quite a distraction in the class if headphones aren’t used!
The canteen is open at recess and lunch, and items from the hot food menu are being made fresh and served by our fabulous canteen staff. The bubbler's are not available to drink from at the moment, but our bottle refilling stations are providing plenty of drinking water – don’t forget your drink bottle.
The fabulous Students Services team and Year Advisers are here each day and are taking the opportunity to check in with our students. Our school counsellors are also on site each day, so there is heaps of support available for students who have been experiencing a difficult time.
Can I recognise and commend Year 7 and our senior students for the responsible and mature approach they have shown towards social distancing across the school today – your thoughtfulness and cooperation is appreciated.
Tomorrow we look forward to seeing Year 8, and some more of our Year 12 classes.
