In April 2011 Lina was a fit and healthy 13 year old, attending Henry Kendall High School, then Longitudinally Extensive Traverse Myelitis (LETM) struck and she was paralysed from the chest down in a matter of a few hours. For some unknown reason Lina's immune system attacked her spinal cord causing irreversible spinal cord injury leaving her now, at 16 years old, an incomplete paraplegic with extensive medical issues. Little is known about the condition, especially in Australia.

On a quest for a better quality of life, Lina and her mother are going to the USA to attend a Traverse Myelitis Family Camp, hosted by the Centre for Courageous Kids in Kentucky, to meet up with other children with the condition and see Traverse Myelitis Specialists and Researchers of this rare neuro-autoimmune condition.

Lina is one of only 40 children worldwide accepted into the camp this year. It is an amazing opportunity but to travel to the USA from Australia they require funds for flights, medical insurance and accommodation and we are asking for your help.

More information about TM can be found at: What is Traverse Myelitis

Lina's mother Susi has also established a Go Fund Me site for anybody who cannot attend the fundraiser or for those who may just like to help by donating a few dollars. The following link will take you to the site:GoFundMe
