Personal Development, Health and Physical Education

The PDHPE Faculty endeavour to develop a deep passion for health and physical activity within our students. We aim to build and nurture a culture when all students strive to do their personal best. Through dynamic, evidence-based learning experiences, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to make informed and responsible decisions about their health and relationships. Students are encouraged to critically examine influences on their health and to take positive action to enhance their physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

Participation in regular physical activity is a fundamental component of a healthy lifestyle and our teaching and learning programs aim to provide a broad range of opportunities and experiences to develop the knowledge and skills needed. These experiences foster creativity, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, empowering students to collaborate effectively, embrace challenges, and appreciate the value of lifelong physical activity.

Henry Kendall High School is equipped with excellent facilities that enhance the delivery of quality PDHPE Programs and provide authentic opportunities for student engagement. The school features a large oval with two outdoor volleyball courts, an indoor performance space, a fully equipped modern gym for resistance training, a covered outdoor learning area for court games and a spacious, air-conditioned Multi-Purpose Centre.

These diverse learning environments are complemented by contemporary sporting and fitness-testing equipment, allowing students to engage in practical, hands-on experiences that mirror real-world contexts. By integrating modern technology and equipment into lessons, students not only enrich their learning but also develop familiarity with tools and practices relevant to post-school pathways in health, sport, and fitness industries.

The following courses are provided through the PDHPE Faculty at Henry Kendall High School.

In addition to the courses above, the PDHPE Faculty also facilitate the delivery of school sport (including weekly sport, school carnivals and school knockout teams), the Henry Kendall High School Dance Group and a before-school gym group.
